We will contact you if we run into any issues confirming your transcripts/test scores.

All incoming Cornell Tech master’s students must submit official copies of university academic records or transcripts from all previously attended universities to Cornell Tech prior to matriculation.

For international students, if you have submitted an official evaluation from WES, Spantran, or ECE, you do not have to submit the report again. If the evaluation was not official (a student copy) an official report or official transcripts must be submitted.

To be considered official, the required documents must be received directly from the issuing institution and properly authenticated with final grades and the degree that was awarded. If your academic records do not state your degree-conferral date, you must also provide an official copy of your degree certificate.

If your academic records are not in English, you must provide an official English translation in addition to your official academic records.

Official electronic transcripts (preferred) must be e-mailed to admissions@tech.cornell.edu.

Paper academic records must be mailed to:

Cornell Tech

If you have previously arranged for the delivery of your official transcript to Cornell Tech, please be advised that we are currently in the process of reviewing all submitted documents. It may take some time for these updates to be reflected in your status portal. You do not need to resend your transcript. Should any issues arise with the transcripts, we will contact you.

Please note that all documents sent to Cornell Tech/Cornell University become the property of Cornell Tech/Cornell University and cannot be returned.

All MBA and LLM candidates must complete a background check from Re Vera Services prior to matriculation.

You will receive an email from Re Vera Services with instructions after you have submitted your deposit. There will also be a service charge. Please note that Re Vera Services processes applications in the order in which the consent forms are received and usually takes 4-6 weeks to process, though it may take longer.

If you have any issues regarding this process, please contact Re Vera Services at cornelltech@reveraservices.com or info@reveraservices.com.

Your Cornell NetID is a unique electronic identifier that, when combined with a password, provides secure access to non-public Cornell resources and information.

Cornell provides additional security protection for personal data by requiring Two-Step Login to access important online resources, such as Student Center and Canvas. Two-Step Login is a two-factor authentication service that prevents the use of stolen Cornell passwords by requiring confirmation from something a third party doesn’t have, such as your phone or another device.

Because some tasks you need to complete before the start of the term will require Two-Step Login, enroll during the NetID activation process.

To Activate Your NETID: All students will receive an email 24-36 hours after they have submitted their deposits with instructions on how to activate and access their NETID. If you have already submitted your deposit, the email will be sent in March for JCTMBA students and in April for LLM, Engineering & Jacobs students. Students will have 7 days after the email is sent to activate their NETID. To get your 7-digit ID, please log into your Cornell Student Essentials account and search under ‘Demographic Information’.

It is strongly recommended that you activate Two-Step Login during the NetID activation process. If for some reason you do not, be sure to follow the steps outlined on the IT@Cornell website and set up Two-Step Login so that you can gain access to required resources.

JCTMBA Students: NETID activation will begin in March.

If you have any issues activating your NETID please contact Cornell IT support here:

or

International Students (Visas)

Before you can apply for a US student visa (F-1), Cornell Tech must issue you a Form I-20. The I-20 is issued by Cornell Tech on behalf of Cornell University and Cornell Tech. To get started and to submit your I-20 materials, please click here. Please note that we only issue an I-20 after you have submitted your deposit.

In order to request an I-20 you will need to submit the following documentation:
– Proof of funding for tuition + cost of living
– Valid passport

You can learn more about the visa process and important immigration information from Cornell University’s Office of Global Learning.

  • When to Apply for Your Visa

Admitted students are encouraged to apply for their visa as early as possible to avoid potential processing delays. While uncommon, admitted students should notify Cornell Tech Admissions of any delays in obtaining a visa. Please note that available visa interview appointment times are at the discretion of the U.S. consulate/embassy; Cornell Tech is unable to influence the appointment dates available.

  • How to Apply for Your Visa

Please refer to this step-by-step guide provided by International Services regarding how to apply for your F-1 or J-1 student visa.

  • What type of Visa do I need? F-1 or J-1?

Most international students at Cornell (including non-degree and exchange students) have an F-1 student visa. Nearly all students with a J-1 visa are sponsored by their government or another external agency and are required to have J-1 status to receive their funding. In fact, you are only eligible for a J-1 visa if more than 50% of your funding comes from a source other than personal or family funds. (Students with full Cornell funding are eligible to request J-1 status, if preferred.)

If you are deciding between an F1 or a J1 visa, you can compare the two here.

  • How and when do I transfer my SEVIS record to Cornell Tech?

If you are already in the U.S. in active F-1 or J-1 student status, you will need to have your SEVIS record transferred to Cornell from your current school before classes begin. Talk to your current international student advisor about your travel and employment plans, then indicate your intended transfer release date on your Admission Supplement. You are encouraged to submit your Admission applications and materials before your transfer release date.

We will not be able to issue your new immigration documents until after your transfer release date. You will have the same SEVIS ID and will not need to pay the SEVIS fee again. If you have questions about applying for a new visa, contact International Services within the Office of Global Learning or visit their For F-1 Transfer Students webpage.

This is Cornell Tech’s transfer form which includes the SEVIS school code.

Note: Students with SEVIS transfers do not need to leave the US between academic programs. This is true even if the visa stamp in your passport has expired. If you have questions, please reach out to an international student advisor to clarify your status and options.

  • Is my program STEM OPT designated?
All programs at Cornell Tech witht he exemption of the LLM program are STEM designated.  All programs are eligible for OPT extensions with the exemption of the LLM program and part-time programs. For more information, you can visit the International Services website.

Organize Your Calendar

Cornell Tech MBA Important Dates
Please carefully review these dates and put them in your calendar to plan ahead. Additional dates, including exams will be shared as we get closer to the start of the semester.

Academic Dates: A Note About Weekends
Please understand that weekends are not free. Weekends are frequently needed for homework, academic review sessions, exams, and other activities. This is particularly true during the accelerated summer core curriculum. We urge you to avoid outside commitments as much as possible.

Summer Term Policy
The summer core curriculum is extremely accelerated. Class sessions and exam dates are mandatory; plan to be fully engaged and limit your outside commitments. Each student should expect to put in about 10 hours of work between the start of August and All School Orientation.

Please view the Cornell Academic Calendar for additional dates.

Pre-Orientation Materials

JCT MBA students will be invited to a Canvas course called “JCT MBA Cornell Tech Student Resources & Pre-Course Materials”. This course will help you learn about crucial campus resources and be prepared for the start of your semester.  You’ll hear from Security, Facilities, IT, and more! It will also include highly recommended pre-course work to help you prepare for your summer core courses. You will receive an invitation to this course in late March. Once you accept the invitation, you can access the course by logging into Canvas or via this link (link will go live in late March).

It is required to complete the resources section ahead of your orientation on Monday, June 2, 2025. The due dates for the highly encouraged pre-course work will be listed within each section.

Cornell Tech strongly values its culture of courtesy both inside and outside the classroom. We expect all students to adhere to classroom norms and policies with special attention given to them when there are guest speakers on campus. We believe attendance is important, and students, faculty, and staff should be punctual to everything they attend. We hope that all students will stay motivated to learn, help each other, and speak up when they know someone is not adhering to these values.

Please remember that all members of the Cornell Tech community must adhere to all Cornell University policies including the policies listed in our Standards of Professional Conduct article. Please review this article carefully before arriving to Campus.

If you violate any of the policies, it will result in immediate dismissal from your program.

The JCT MBA New Student Orientation is required and will take place on Monday, June 2, 2025. Registration will open in late March.
