JCTMBA Student Newsletter 2026

Technical & LLM Student Newsletter 2026

Welcome to Cornell Tech!

Congratulations on your admission to the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA Class of 2027! This is the first in a series of emails designed to provide essential information and action items to help you prepare for your JCT MBA program.

My name is Laura Graffitti, Associate Director of MBA Programs, and I am part of the Student & Academic Affairs team at Cornell Tech. I oversee the operations of the JCT MBA program and serve as a primary point of contact for all MBA students. I work closely with colleagues at both Cornell Tech and the Johnson School in Ithaca. I’m thrilled to welcome you to campus this summer! Please review the email below to begin preparing for your program.

New Student Checklist

The New Student Checklist provides a step-by-step guide to everything you need to complete before arriving in June. This checklist will be updated over the coming months with additional details and deadlines for each task. We recommend starting with the “First Things First” section to finalize your application and activate your NetID and Cornell email. Your Cornell NetID is a unique electronic identifier that, along with a password, grants secure access to non-public Cornell resources and information. All students will receive an email 24-36 hours after they have submitted their deposits with instructions on how to activate and access their NETID. View more information here under “Activate your NetID and Cornell Email.”

Important Dates:

Please carefully review the “important dates” listed on the New Student check-list and put them in your calendar to plan ahead. These dates include the mandatory JCT MBA orientation on Monday, June 1, 2026. Additional dates, including exams will be shared as we get closer to the start of the semester.

Summer Term Attendance
The summer core curriculum is extremely accelerated. Class sessions and exam dates are mandatory; plan to be fully engaged and limit your outside commitments. Typically, you will take two classes at a time, with in-class sessions four days a week and the other day set aside to work on assignments or study for exams. Please understand that weekends are not free. Weekends are frequently needed for homework, academic review sessions, exams, and other activities. This is particularly true during the accelerated summer core curriculum. We urge you to avoid outside commitments as much as possible.

Health

In the next few weeks we will update this section with important deadlines and action items for new students, including Cornell’s health requirements, health insurance details, and disability services information.

Housing

Students attending Cornell Tech full-time will have the opportunity to apply for our on-campus housing facility – The House. For more information on housing options and FAQs, please visit the The House website

Johnson Cornell Tech MBA Students who begin their program in June 2026 can apply for a Full-Year license (May 29, 2026 – May 17, 2027) from Tuesday, March 17, at 10:00 am – Thursday, March 26 at 11:59 pm ET. The housing application link will be sent to your Cornell email address along with details.

Assignments are made according to your ranked preferences and space availability. Once you receive a housing assignment by email, sign your housing license online and submit a deposit by the deadline (within 72 hours) to confirm it. Complete instructions will be included in the housing assignment notification sent to your *Cornell email.

Please note, although we intend to offer housing for your program, on-campus housing cannot be guaranteed and therefore it is also recommended that you research off-campus housing options. Complete your Student Health Requirements – Deadline June 10

All students must complete Cornell’s student health requirements process to comply with state and federal laws, meet public health guidelines, and support their health care while at Cornell Tech. Please review and complete your required immunizations. The deadline to upload your documentation is June 10, 2026. There will be consequences for noncompliance with Cornell’s Health Requirement. Please review the website for more information. If you need to make an appointment for immunizations in NYC and have the student health insurance plan, you can make an appointment with Weill Primary Care in NYC when you arrive by completing this form. If you have questions about the requirements, please send a secure message through their patient portal – Cornell Health only communicates through the portal.

You can access your patient portal by logging into myCornellHealth using your Cornell NetID and password, and go to Messages > New Message > Send a message or attachment to Immunization Requirements.

Student Health Insurance

Cornell requires that all active students have health insurance that provides access to comprehensive care where they are studying. The Office of Student Health Benefits enforces this requirement and offers a health insurance plan to satisfy this requirement.

As a new student in the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA program, you will be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Plan (SHP) and billed for this coverage unless you opt-out (waive) by providing proof of alternate coverage that meets University requirements. The due date to waive coverage for the summer and fall terms is May 31, 2026. To waive this coverage, you must log into Gallagher Student Health and provide documentation of your current health insurance.

International students are generally not eligible to opt-out of SHP coverage, however exceptions may be made for students who already carry insurance that meets university requirements. To request an exception, contact our office as soon as possible.

Student Disability Services (SDS)

Disability accommodations and support are available for students with disabilities, including mental health diagnoses, temporary injuries, and other disabilities. If you are seeking disability accommodations or exploring if your disability symptoms are impacting your academic endeavors, please complete our Disability Self-Disclosure Form. We encourage you to connect with the office as soon as possible. Once you have completed the form, it can take up to 3 weeks to follow up with you. Please keep this in mind if you will require classroom accommodations as we want to ensure you are prepared for classes beginning on June 2, 2026.

SDS actively participates in the social justice model of seeking disability accommodations and support. They recognize that there are many reasons why you may not have third-party documentation of your disability or condition. They are committed to working with you to find appropriate and creative ways to support you here at Cornell. Contact: Student Disability Services, 607-254-4545, [email protected], or sds.cornell.edu for more information.

As a new student, you will set up your email account when you activate your NetID. Your email address will be automatically generated using your Cornell NetID. You must also set up Two-Step Login so you can access services vital to getting started as a new student, such as Student Center and Student Essentials.  Please note that starting July 1, we will only contact you via your Cornell email address. It is crucial that you activate your NetID and set up your Cornell email before this date. You can learn more about your NetID and Cornell email here.

Immunization Requirements – Pre-enrollment Hold Beginning July 8th

Make sure you are completing your required immunizations and uploading your documentation. If you are not in compliance with the required immunizations, you will receive a pre-enrollment hold on your account beginning July 8. If you need to make an appointment for immunizations in NYC and you have the student health insurance plan, you can make an appointment with Weill Primary Care in NYC for when you arrive by completing this form. If you have questions about the requirement, please send a secure message through our patient portal: Log in to myCornellHealth using your Cornell NetID and password, and go to Messages > New Message > Send a message or attachment to Immunization Requirements. Cornell Health only communicates through the secure portal above, therefore it is your responsibility to check the Cornell Health portal frequently for any updates and messages.

Sign up for TECHPALS! – Deadline: Friday, July 10

Want to get a head start on getting to know your fellow peers? Participate in TechPals to be matched with another student! Like pen pals, TechPals are student pairs of two who can interact with one another prior to the start of the fall semester. We will give you some prompts to start, and then you and your partner can take it from there! Signing up to be a TechPal provides an opportunity to make a meaningful connection with another student. Additionally, TechPals will have an opportunity to come together as a group on campus once the semester begins.

If you would like to participate, sign up here by Friday, July 10!

Upload your ID Photo – Deadline: July 15

After activating your NetID, please upload a photo of yourself for your Cornell Tech ID card following the instructions here. You will need to log in with your NetID. If you previously had a Cornell ID card (ex: you completed your undergrad at Cornell), your Cornell Tech ID will be automatically generated using the same photo from your original ID. If you would like a new photo used, please upload it using the link above.

Best,

The Student & Academic Affairs Team
