Your Summer Curriculum
To succeed in business and compete with today’s leading industry minds, you need to have a solid foundational understanding of business concepts and principles.
Your summer core is all about growing your knowledge and expertise in an accelerated program.
It All Kicks Off with Orientation
Your program officially starts the morning of Thursday, June 1 with engaging and informative Check-In and Orientation events designed to acclimate you to business school and get you up and running. Classes begin that afternoon, and throughout the week you’ll have classes, orientation, and career prep activities as a part of your overall schedule. Attendance in person beginning on June 1 is required, so please be sure to plan all travel to be ready to start your program on June 1!
Academic Modality
Your orientation and classes will be fully in-person. If you have any anticipated delays in arriving by June 1, please reach out to newstudents@johnson.cornell.edu to discuss. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate delays and we do not offer deferral requests except in cases of immediate military deployment or personal medical emergencies.
When to Come to Ithaca
We strongly encourage you to relocate to Ithaca before June 1 so you can get fully settled. The summer core is highly accelerated, so time to relocate or unpack is very limited once classes begin.

Class of 2024 | Issue #2
Your summer core is fast-paced and dedicated to building the foundational business acumen you need to succeed. Over the course of the summer, your focus will be our core curriculum. You’ll also have the opportunity to take some elective coursework if you wish. The summer is also central to your recruiting preparation.
Wondering about the Day-to-Day?
Generally, you’ll take two classes at a time, with sessions all day long. Typically, you’ll have classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, while Wednesdays and weekends are your days to study, collaborate on group projects, prep for recruiting, and other MBA core activities. There will be some exceptions—you’ll have class on the occasional Wednesday, and exams are sometimes administered on Saturdays and/or Sundays. See below for a full outline of the summer course schedule. Note that you will be enrolled into all required courses and more information will be provided about elective course enrollment.

Learn the Ropes. Challenge yourself to reach higher at the Lindseth Climbing Center and Noyes K2 Bouldering Wall. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned cliffhanger, you can get your muscles moving and adrenaline pumping.
